Be present when your goods are packed. An inventory of your goods will be made and it is important to resolve any disagreements prior to signing the inventory. Make sure all copies are legible and all items are numbered. Have valuable items listed separately. Some appliances may require servicing prior to the move. Planning your moving day
Your mover may ask you to select several consecutive days during which your goods can be loaded and a second series of dates during which your goods can be delivered to your new home. A spread of days gives you and your mover the flexibility needed to keep your move on schedule. Remember that summer months are the busiest, and some movers offer lower prices between the months of October and April.

The destination agent will contact you once he has the airway bill or the bill of lading for your shipment from the origin agent. You will then have to sign some import papers etc that will be processed at customs and the shipment will be brought to your door.

Make sure that you have a copy of the inventory list with you and you know exactly where to keep the cartons. The movers will come and offload your goods in the said rooms, unpack the major packages and take away the debris on the day of delivery – Make sure you ask them to take all debris on the day of the delivery otherwise extra pickups will be charged to you. Also if your shipment is stored at movers warehouse, you might have to pay storage and redelivery charges.
Claims
In case the shipment you receive has some damages/losses – mention the damages in the delivery receipt presented by the destination agent . Do not waste time – send messages to all parties concerned – origin agent, destination agent and the insurance company so that they cannot deny any claims.
